The Malignmen shows are crazy , if you haven't been to one yet, It's about time you did. The first show I went to was last summer with Voice of Reason. I had just moved to Tennessee from the West Coast and hardly expected anything worthwhile. The bastard Canadians never showed up. But, The Malignmen did just fine. I think it was this show that Steck pulled a reciprocal saw out of nowhere and started cutting some dolls head off.
The Halloween show, I think was the best so far. Gram was dressed up like a zombie and did a damn good job. Steck was wearing a freakin kilt.
A show the Malignmen played with The Murder Junkies (minus G.G.) was aired on public television. The new Murder Junkies singer didn't seem to be accepted to well.
The most chaotic show was definitly the suppos'ed end of the Mercury . Steck kind of set off a cue when he mentioned how long some damn tree had survived hanging over the pit. He climbed onto the wall and threw down a bobsled that was mounted there. People were tearing down mirrors, T.V.'s were smashed, even the linoleum was torn up. If I remember correctly I was hit in the back of the head with a dead pigeon.
The REAL last punk show at the Mercury was on the 28th of Feburary. The show was really good, but the Malignmen didn't seem as archaic as usual. I regretfully stayed out of the pit most of the show, because two guys seemed to find a delight in punching my head. My shirt was torn in half too.
You can usually count on Malignmen shows to see someone get their ass kicked. They are probably going to be recording in May, so cross your fingers and speak nicely of the Spooky Outer Space Monkey. There just might be an LP in the your future.
MalignMen 7"s that you should have:
